Participation of the Mediterranean One Health Innovation Center in the “1st Panhellenic Scientific Online Conference on Food Safety, Quality Assurance and One Health 2025”.
The Online Conference was co-organized by One Health Students Greece and the Department of Public and One Health of the University of Thessaly, on Saturday, November 1st, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., and was held under the auspices of the Hellenic Food Authority, the Agricultural University of Athens, the University of Thessaly, and the Benaki Phytopathological Institute. Distinguished speakers from all over Greece participated, along with institutional bodies (either as auspices or collaborating organizations), research institutes, and academic institutions with significant activity in the fields addressed by the Conference.
The Conference was supported by the Agricultural University of Athens, the Center for Research and Education in Public Health of the Academy of Athens, the Benaki Phytopathological Institute, the Hellenic Food Authority (EFET), the Euro-Mediterranean Institute for Quality and Safety of Health Services, the Mediterranean One Health Innovation Center, the Association of Greek Chemists, the Panhellenic Association of Public Health Inspectors, the Hellenic Dietitians–Nutritionists Association, and several other organizations listed in the official Program. It constituted a highly successful scientific event, with participation exceeding all expectations.
The overall scientific coordination of the Conference was undertaken by Dr. Eleni Lachana, President of the Department of Public and One Health of the University of Thessaly, and Kyriakos Giallourakis, President of One Health Students Greece. The coordination of the individual thematic sessions was carried out by Dr. Vasileios Diamantopoulos, Assistant Professor of Public and One Health, and Christos Rafail Giannios, Vice President of One Health Students Greece.
The scientific program included 12 specialized presentations by distinguished scientists, aiming to map all stakeholders involved in the One Health (OH) field.
The President of the Scientific Council of the Mediterranean One Health Innovation Center, Professor and Director of the Laboratory of Forest Informatics at the Department of Forestry and Natural Environment of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Zacharoula Andreopoulou, participated with a presentation entitled: “The One Health approach, MED-OHC ‘Mediterranean One Health Innovation Center’.” She provided a concise overview of the objectives and activities of our organization, emphasizing the importance of interconnecting natural ecosystems with human and animal health.
