Professor at the Laboratory of ‘Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries’, Director of the ‘Museum of Fauna & Aquarium’ and Vice President of the School of Forestry and Natural Environment, Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Environment, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Graduate and PhD in the School of ‘Biology’, Faculty of Sciences, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, since 1992.

From 1996-2002 I was a Researcher at the ‘Fisheries Research Institute ‘ of ELGO-DIMITRA and from 2002 until today, I am a faculty member of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. My scientific ‘field of knowledge’ as Professor at AUTH is ‘Freshwater Fisheries’, which concerns the ecology and rational fisheries management of inland waters (rivers, lakes, coastal lakes), fisheries biology and fish farming.

For the last 3 years I have been the Director of the Postgraduate Studies Program (MSc) of the School of Forestry and Natural Environment, while for the 4 previous years I was Deputy Director of the same MSc. I was the Director of the Department of Range science – Wildlife and Fresh water Fisheries for 4 terms, and since 2018 until today ‘Supervisor of Building Facilities’ of the School in Finikas, Thessaloniki. Since 2020 until today I am a member of the Scientific Committee of the CITES Authority, which regulates the trade of endangered species of Wild Fauna and Flora of our country.

In the period 2019-2021 I participated in the Board of Directors of the ‘Thermaikos Gulf Protected Areas Management Authority’, as Deputy Director of the Board, as representative of the scientific community.

I have participated in more than 40 competitive (and non-competitive) research projects and studies, either as ‘Scientific Officer’ or ‘Coordinator’ or as ‘Member’ of the research team, but also in the preparation of a significant number of private scientific studies (>65).

I am a member of several International Scientific Societies (>10) and Scientific Reviewer in 16 Scientific Journals (15 International and 1 National). In 4 of them I am a member of the Editorial Board (Editorial Committee).

To date I have published more than 250 scientific papers in international and national scientific journals, in proceedings of international and national conferences, workshops and in chapters of scientific books and publications.
