Participation of MED-OHC in the 41st World Veterinary Congress 2026

Members of the Scientific Council of MED-OHC, together with the Chair of the Board of Directors, traveled to Tokyo to participate in the 41st World Veterinary Congress 2026, held under the central theme:
“One Health for a Better Tomorrow: Veterinary Medicine Holds the Key”
The Congress was inaugurated by senior government officials and ministers of Japan, in the presence of the Imperial Family, and concluded with an address by His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Naruhito.
Presenting the Vision of MED-OHC
During the Congress, MED-OHC representatives presented the organization and its vision for the One Health approach, engaging in discussions with government officials, scientists, and institutional stakeholders.
In addition, Professor Georgios Valiakos delivered a special presentation entitled:
“From Re-emergence to Eradication: The Management of the 2012–2014 Rabies Outbreak in Greece”
International Cooperation and Future Prospects
Within the framework of the Congress, MED-OHC established contact with international partners, further strengthening prospects for global cooperation and reaffirming its commitment to advancing One Health worldwide.
Furthermore, the foundations were laid for initiating cooperation between Greece and Japan within the One Health strategic framework, with the prospect of signing a relevant Memorandum of Understanding.
An Active Role in the Global One Health Dialogue
MED-OHC’s presence at this international congress highlights its active role in shaping the global dialogue on One Health and reinforces its commitment to partnerships that translate knowledge into action and impact.
Through such international engagements, MED-OHC continues to build bridges of cooperation and promote a shared vision of One Health, grounded in science, collaboration, and sustainable progress.
